Waiver Wire Watch List: Week 6

Quarterback: This weeks top waiver wire option at quarterback is Baker Mayfield. Baker has thrown for at least 295 yards in his past two games, and the Las Angeles Chargers pass defense isn’t as strong as it was expected to be going into the season. They are ranked 21st in passing yards allowed. Also, if you don’t need to start him this week he plays the Bucs, Steelers, Chiefs, and Falcons in his next four games. All of those teams have pretty awful pass defenses. Baker Mayfield has the potential, with his slate of games coming up, to be a solid QB1 option in fantasy.

Running Back: With Lamar Miller struggling to produce for the Texans this season, Alfred Blue has reemerged this season as a viable fantasy option. Blue had 20 carries last week against the Cowboys and added seven receptions for a total of 119 yards. If you are in desperate need of a running back this week, Blue is probably your best option off of the waiver wire.

Wide Receiver: The obvious choice this week at receiver is Keke Coutee. Bruce Ellington is on injured reserve and Coutee has stepped up in a big way, and has created a strong connection with Deshaun Watson. Over the past two weeks, Coutee has amounted 160 yards and a touchdown. He is starting to play a big role in the Texans’ offense and I do not expect him to stop.

Tight End: Based off of his potential, the top choice for tight ends this week is Hayden Hurst. Hurst made his debut last week for the Ravens, but only caught one pass for seven yards. Since he is their prized first round pick, the Ravens will get him involved this week against the Titans, and he will eventually become their go to option at that position. I expect him to emerge as one of Flacco’s favorite targets sooner rather than later.
